My ten year old female green wing Ruby is started too pluck a little around her neck

As stated, my green wing has started plucking some it stressing me out too see. I have her in my den with my gray and 8 year old blue and gold I just started giving her avicalm it seems too help some it's only been a few days on the avicalm any suggestions?

Sorry to hear your macaw has started plucking. It could be for a number of reasons that she is plucking. Any changes in home life or cage setup at all? Does she have a variety of toys and ability to get out of her cage for at least part of the day? How much sunlight does she get or how do you provide light for your birds? How is her diet, any changes to that recently?

Like I said, birds pluck for a number of reasons. Ensuring she has a lot of toys, chance to hang outside of the cage and stretch their wings, proper diet are some important factors here.

try and find what is causing the plucking. Boredom, stress, irritation, infection. If possible start with a quick vet visit just to be safe and rule out infection. From there try giving more showers to calm any irritation, next step would be trying to get them more engaged in playing on their own, be it foraging or just chewing, whatever they like. finally stress which is the hardest IMO. You need to find what has caused upset, constantly in sight of a window, not near the grey, too close to the grey, even a toy of some sort. Diet can also affect them which would just be a long process of trial and error

Please take her to the vet right away. It can be as simple as a bacterial infection, diagnosed with a $40 gram stain and treated with a $15 antibiotic. The vet should be the FIRST step when I bird starts plucking and often the ONLY step needed to alleviate the problem before it becomes a habit.

Plucking can be a stubborn issue that is some parts behavioral and on occasion physical. If Ruby hasn't been to a certified avian vet recently, might consider a visit.

Right, you want to nip this right away, before the plucking becomes habitual. No bird just starts to pluck feathers for the heck of it, there's always an under lying reason. Is she getting a full 12 hrs of good quality sleep time? Is she getting enough one on one time with you?

She had signs of plucking from the bird store I saved her from. She has a huge cage I bought her is out from 6 am to 8 pm. She also has more toys too chew than my other birds I spoil her I've only had her for three weeks. She eats pellets fruit and an assortment of stuff in the food mix. Honestly I believe this is the best care she has ever had she is also housed like my other birds in front of the Windows.
