I am new to this forum and I am in Amarillo texas area I am looking to purchase or rescue a macaw we like for he/she to be younger and able to be handled. Can anyone guide me in a direction. We would also prefer the red macaws.

A crossover Quaker Scuti (F), A Sun conure named AC, A Cinnamon Green Cheek conure Kent, and 6 budgies, Scuti Jr. (f), yellow (m), clark Jr. (m), Dot (f), Zebra(f), Machine (m).

Hello,
I am new to this forum my wife and I are the proud owner of an African Grey named Norman he is a hoot. Bear with us as this is a new forum that I just stumbled across while looking to purchase macaw.

Presently have six Greenwing Macaw (17 yo), Red Fronted Macaw (12 yo), Red Lored Amazon (17 y.o.), Lilac Crowned Amazon (about 43 y.o.) and a Congo African Grey (11 y.o.)
Panama Amazon (1 Y.O.)

I'd recommend greenwings over scarlet's. Personality wise, scarlet's are the beakiest of the bunch, and they tend to have shorter tempers...

Greenwings are generally lovers... every once in awhile you get overbonding issues, or dominance issues, but those are usually related to not training the bird correctly.

Handling a greenwing is relatively easy. Getting one to STOP being handled is harder... they want to be with you, and be the center of attention at all times...
