Is this normal color for blue and gold macaw feet

Just adopted a beautiful 55 yr old blue and gold macaw! We’re deff taking her in for a nail trim soon, as I don’t think she’s had one in a while... is the coloration on her feet normal? It looked odd to me so of course I turned to google and terrible explanations came out kinda when you look up symptoms and you have “cancer” LOL just looking for opinion on here first

Pretty nice legs there for a 55 year old!!! All kidding a side; yup, look pretty good. Now, the important question is: What do the bottom of the Claw (foot) look like and how well does the Claw (foot) grasp a 2.5" (63 mm) to 3" (75 mm) Branch?

Problems are defined by red pads to broken (open) pads. Also, regarding the grasp; are toes not able to form evenly around the branch. Since you are going to an Avian Vet, have the legs and claws looked at closely!!!

FYI: Older Parrots really want to be on larger diameter Branches. See the Amazon Forum, the second Sticky Titled: I Love Amazons - ... Within that Huge Thread is a Segment Titled something like Getting to the Foot of the Problem!! That will make a great read. NOTE: You can simply switch MAC for Amazons with near everything in that Thread

She grasps her perch/branch really well, I feel like her claws are even too to my eyes at least lol. The bottom of her feet look very similar to the picture I just attached! Except darker

I was more or less concerned by all the whiteness at the start of her feet

Max my 25 B&G has pretty much the same coloration.

the pads and underside are surprisingly dark.

They look pretty normal to me. The only thing I would suggest is to see if she is nipping at the base of her feet. The lighter colouration could be a sign of her grooming her feet a little too much, but it could also just be her colour. My macaws feet have different colouration on their feet and they have no unwanted behaviour.

Not seeing anything of concern in either photo, understanding that hands and eyes-on, see and feel far more!

The Whiteness is common with powder (dust) based Parrots. Commonly seen when they fluff-up and they are surrounded with anything from a tiny cloud to a huge cloud of white 'stuff.' Gravity being what it is, the Claws (feet) see a constant flow from above.

You could brush them with a soft brush and water if you like. After dried, you could use a tiny bit of natural corn oil. However, being referred to as a Crazy Parrot Person, gets you 80% of the way there just having a Parrot. Soft brushing you MAC's feet commonly gets you to 100% fairly quickly!

But, if you are having a foot care day at your home, everyone can join it!
