Sunny a female B&G macaw;
Japie (m) & Appie (f), both are congo african grey;
All are rescues- had to leave their previous homes for 'reasons', are still in contact with them :)
We have an "oops I did it again" situation.

Sunny was sitting on her mobile perch yesterday when a friend stopped by and tapped on my window.
Somehow this startled her and she completely lost it and ended up crashing a generous metre down to the floor (I missed this part- was in the kitchenarea at the time) where I found her, stuck between some boxes, screaming her head off.

And of course: she bummed her already supersore wing (the wristpart...again!) to the point there was a small spot of blood showing on the feathers and some swelling. :(
Poor girl!

and we are back to square one ...

She wants to do all the 'normal' stuff like stuffing her face in my cup of tea, run around and play ball etc.etc. but ... everytime her wing (or tail - previous post) gets into contact with anything she lashes out (at me mostly).
I don't want her to vegetate (and nibble feathers - 'cause thats what she does best when in pain) in her cage but I am getting pretty scratched up and somewhat stressed out about that myself.

(I know this is just temporary, not sure if she does :rolleyes: )

It is difficult to have a bird that really, really wants to be with you, but lashes out at the same time.

I already tried putting the perch quite near me, but that is nog enough.

(She keeps fidgetting and putting a foot up almost to the point of tipping over.)
She wants to be a lapdog today ...

(and eat t-shirt -> back to the perch she goes)

We are having a really hot day comming up, so I am taking her for a good old soak in the shower.... for some scratch/bitefree fun time together

(she has her own showerperch/ though she sits on my arm about half the time and leans against me (so cute), but maybe not today ;) )

It anyone has some suggestions ...they would be most welcome.

(how to put an icepack on a macaw? ;) )
