Sunny a female B&G macaw;
Japie (m) & Appie (f), both are congo african grey;
All are rescues- had to leave their previous homes for 'reasons', are still in contact with them :)
Here we go again ;) ...

I have been wondering about this for a long time, and I am not sure if it applies because Sunny cannot fully spread/ extend her wings (at least for now) and hardly uses them at all.

Oliver17 mentioned in the posts about Oliver something called "surfer pose".
=> Standing straight up to attention with the wings spread.
Not sure if that is an official term or not (I rather like it) but Sunny does something similar.
Only with the wings half-open,

....because that is as far as they will go atm or is this "the way it is always done" by regular macaws?

It usually happens when she is spooked or made a mistake with the whole pressurebiting (in that case she accompanies it with a loud "Hello?") or just in the middle of active playing when she surprises herself...

Is this just an 'I am alarmed/ exited'-signal or can it mean other things as wel?

(I usually respond with something soothing and complimenting <sound and/or touch>, or in the case of too hard a bite: a second chance. Is that okay?)

If your birds do something like this- do they execute it with wings fully stretched or also half-half?

(She is not crouching as if to push of and fly away- she is standing up so straight I was afraid at first that she might topple over backwards -esp when she had no tail at all.)

I wish I could add a picture, but so far she wants to eat/crack the lens every single time I try.
