Okay, so Wally must be getting more comfortable in our house, because he is really showing off his skills. Someone along the line has taught him that crying like a baby at the top of his lungs if a way to get attention. Then he quietly says, 'That's a good boy.' I need some ear plugs. Walking away doesn't always make him stop. Is there another way to teach him that this is not okay?

Oh, and the family that we live with thinks it is funny, so that doesn't help. We are trying to convince them that it is not okay to wave at him through the the door when he does that.

He is so funny to watch and talk to. He is really settling in here and seems so happy to talk to us. He actually does know several words and phrases, and is just beginning to share them with us. He laughs, has almost gotten his name down, can say hi and hello he says thats a good boy, and likes to bark and growl at our dog. He is a wonderful companion to come home to and definantly knows how to make us laugh! Just hope we can teach him that screaming/crying so loud is not acceptable.

Fred used to do the crying thing too. It wasn't terribly loud, but I hated the sound of it. Every time he "cried", I responded with one of his favourite sounds. He was easily distracted, and would move on to another word, or sound. He still "cries" sometimes, but not nearly as often....

Most will tell you to ignore, and then praise him or reward when he stops crying.

Thanks. Yeah, that is what we have been trying to do. He seems to only do it when I get home from work. Of course, today I was late getting home, so he may have been complaining about that, and this was the only way he could think to do it. He is purring right now, watching my husband build him a play stand. I just can't believe how quickly he seems to have settled in here. We have only had him less than a week. We are still not allowed to touch him, but he will take treats out of our hands, and loves to talk and laugh with (or at :p) us.
