New Macaw - bonding

:red1: Hello, I am not new to parrot ownership and not new to macaws. However, it's been a very long time since I have started the bonding phase with a new macaw. My B&G was 1 when I got her and we bonded quickly. I just got a gorgeous Harlequin macaw from a rescue and I am working on bonding with her. There is little known about her previous home as her owner had dementia and has since passed away. She did bond with the male in the home of the rescue I adopted her from. I've only had her 1 day and I am not expecting a rapid transition. Right now she is hanging out in my large java tree and I offer her nuts from my hand whenever I approach the cage and she behaves appropriately. She did try to bite me when I picked her up at the rescue. She has not tried to bite since I've had her home, although I have also not given her the opportunity to do so.

So what I am asking is just some suggestions of things I can try to make the bonding transition go as smooth as possible. Time is not a factor, I can go as slowly as necessary.

Her name is Ceillie (Sea Lee). I'm not super stoked about the name but it is what it is.

Welcome! Thank you for rescuing this beauty.

Celie, like from The Color Purple? I like it!
I had some fun Googling the name, too, for origins, etc.

Well, you could always change it. She'd learn a new one fast, or at least most do.

Scott gave you some primo links!

I'm glad you're here.
