So I have a blue and gold macaw I’ve hade him for about a year and he does not eat fruits he’s only been eating pellets every time I put him fruits he picks up the trey and drops it I was wondering on how I could train him to eat them. Also one more thing I work all day do u think spending like 2 1/2 hrs with my bird all day is good enough or do I need more. My brothers is always home but he just sits next to him not really giving him attention.

Eating pellets is not nessecarily bad for your macaw, ifthey are good brand of pellets, but intriducing new foods esp high quality vegatable ( not fruits) is a good idea. Fruits are the last thing you should try to bring to his daily diet. Peppers, esp HOT ones, and loaded w/vitamin A, which is usually missing in parrot diets. Dark leafy veggies like kale, bokchoy, and others . NO letucces, which are mostly water and litle use.
