Macaw beak problem

Hi! For the last 3 month our blue and gold macaw have some problems with beak... At first I thought that this is not a problem and she will recover her beak like we recover our nails. But the erosion goes a little deeper so I started to panic. The problem is that we live in Ukraine and we don't have a good aviary here, especially for the macaws. She looks happy and I can see no problems with her mood or appetite. Look the photos attached.

Hi welcome to the forum! I think is normal beak flaking. But I had trouble opening the pics.

I fully agree with my good friend above!

The general appearance is normal beak flaking. That said, there is one deeper area that appears to have collected a bit of food or other substance. If your Mac will allow you to touch it's beak, dip your fingers in a bit of water and rub the areas where the outer and inner flakes exist. Make it more of a happy thing and not you stressing over the area. Rub in a smooth soft motion, like you are petting the beak. The goal is little more than keeping the beak clean.

Chipping /flaking occurs naturally, but with cages Parrots they can rub their beaks a bit harder and the flaking can be deeper.

FYI: Assure that your Mac has plenty of chew toys available to turn into small bits.

Cheers!

Ditto...sometimes mine get that rough looking. And sometimes gets uneven wear and tear but eventually evens out. But totally also agree with trying to clean it. Does your B&G like showers? :) . That should at least clear it up.
