Pellets Finally!!!

It took me over a year, but today was the first time my Mac started to eat the Harrison's in her bowl. I stopped seeds several months age and allow her to forage for walnuts, pistachios, and almonds in PVC pipes. To bridge in some calories I make a mash of steamed organic oats, quinoa, barley, kamut banana, and a little organic almond butter. In addition to daily mixed vegetables and fruits.

Should I cut back on the mixed veggies/fruit on the mash to keep her interested in the Harrison's?

As an aside, does anyone have a crazy bird that sleeps like this? Hope the attachment comes through.

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
Savor the victory of pellet acceptance! Fresh veggies/fruits plus your steamed mash an excellent dietary basis. You were wise to ditch the seeds in favor of pellets (in my opinion) though macs need a bit more fat than other parrots. Continued treats of almond, walnut, and pistachio are ideal.

Harrison's an excellent choice, but if your mac begins to refuse, consider the brand's conversion advice - worked for my entire flock. https://www.harrisonsbirdfoods.com/using-our-foods/large-bird-conversion/

Wow, that's an interesting sleep position! I enlarged and guessed orientation is correct - if not let me know and I'll rotate.

It is the correct orientation! She will lay in my lap on her back with her head sorta hanging off my leg.

I have tried the Harrison's conversion and it worked well for my CAG, but my MAC has a very different routine. Every morning she flies to the same perch for her morning bathroom, then she turns on the faucet to get water, and sits by the window until she wakes up a bit. I have to put her in the cage and lock it to make her slow down and eat....otherwise she is a busy body. Almost no food holds her attention for 15 minutes except pistachios.

I do have a video, I just have to figure out how to upload it. I also have video of what is becoming a new part of the routine; which is climbing or flying onto the kitchen counter and opening the drawers foraging for nuts.

Easiest way to upload video is via YouTube or Vimeo link. Unfortunately not possible to post to forum directly from source.
