Just seeing if anyone has an aviator harness, size Large, that they dont need. I have a medium to trade or I can purchase from you. My medium is a teal color, like new....too small for Wranglers head. I can also trade for a few new toys possibly.

so the med is small, I got a med for Maxx and I have yet to get it on him I do question the size of the head hole looks small to me. however I have had no luck working with Maxx he freaks every time he even sees anything that looks like the harness. he took a dislike to the camera strap so I took the strap off and now he freaks at just the sight of the camera and goes on guard.

How much does wrangler weigh? Medium is the appropriate size for and ekkie, and Parker ris heavier than your typical ekkie.

He is roughly 450g...give or take but he's possibly a bit underweight--getting him to eat a healthy diet is still challenge. Some of the local bird club people think he might be a Vos, not a SI. His tail feathers are a mess from being scrubbed into the cage during "bunny time". The harness I have came with Liesl and fit her just fine--she was around 330g, but it's a real struggle getting it off his head and really pisses him off. i thought possibly a bigger head hole would be less rough on him. Im using a bit of an unorthodox strategy with him, but it seems to work. I dont train him to it, im just forcing it on and then going immediately outside. If i had to train him to it, im not sure how much success, if any, i would have. This was the same strategy for showering and he is now much more accomodating since he's learned that showers are a good thing and not to be feared. He loves going for car rides or walks in the sunshine, so he associates the harness with that activity, and I always follow up at night with cuddles to reinforce that my hands are a good thing. He hates it when I take the dog for a walk and leave him behind, so Im training him that the dog wears a leash, and he has to too. He's actually much better about wearing it once its on than Liesl was. She'd accept it being put on but constantly pulling on it. He is more interested about what is going on around him outside and the harness isnt a distraction for him. The hardest part of the whole harness experience is getting it off his head, hence my interest in a larger size.

Good luck with it---It took me a full 6 months before I could really say that Wrangler accepted his new home, and me. There were incremental changes during that period, but now it's pretty clear that he loves his home (still working on the husband thing...) If Im around and out of sight, he makes it clear that he should be with me. I couldnt even touch his body/feathers during before, and it's only just recently that hes not hand shy around me. Not to say he likes me touching him, but it's not active avoidance like before. Small steps....

Heya.
Seeing if anyone has a aviator harness that they don't need or is spare. *horrified* to see they sell for £25.
Will be willing to make a decent offer if within collection distance (London)
Pm if anything.
Thanks!

If cost is an issue, and you have a friend thats handy with a needle and thread, cobbing one of these up is pretty easy. You could make it custom fit too, as one size fits all is rarely the case with parrots. Good luck.

The video that came with my aviator harness I thought was great and very informative on how to warm them up to the harness. I've been working with Timneh for 3 weeks now, doing what the video recommended before putting it on them. Putting the time in now is well worth the fun you can be having for many years to come. The next nice day we get might very well be our first outing.
