im on vacation in MA, and our neighbors accross the street have two peach faced lovebirds and an umbrella cockatoo whos 25. i was walking to the beach when i heard the lovebirds. immediately i went on some sorta quest to find out what birds they had . i must have looked pretty creepy staring at there yard every time i walked by lol. the next day they had them out in their cages for some fresh air. the owner said we were welcome to visit them outside, at this point i was in heaven :D. so we went over and the cockatoo did flips for us and made cute little noises, it was awsome! i heard the cockatoo screaming the other day and as odd as it sounds, i actually enjoyed the sound, it was really wierd...

o my gosh i love bird paradise! i somehow convinced my mom to take me my brother and grandma on a 2 hour car ride there for the parrot palooza they had last october. it was exactly as you said it, and i found out about lorries in the store. it was great! i only heard the cockatoo once and i was supprised. hes old so maybe it sounded quieter. i have heard them scream to and my ears almost fell off . maybe he wasnt going at full strength. we have been here a week and so far the love birds make the most noise lol.

-no parrots yet-
I do have two cats -Riply & Nano bites-
four snakes- china, dip & stick, and Grand Chahee-
dosent sound all that odd, I like spending time with animals, when lary started screaming, Id tell him to hush, and he would tone it down, but I enjoyed his sounds, its not all that hard to understand when someone dosent mind the sounds birds make, even how annoying they can be.. I am not bothered by it at all, if it werent because of my neighbors Id have had a bird by now.

I was told that lovebirds are noisy, loud... cherry might have been, but I called it White noise and was not at all bothered by it, even when auntie had to cover her, it was life, and I enjoyed her sounds.

You went to Parrot Palooza!?!?! I was thinking of doing that but my mom said that if I go to Parrot Palooza then I'd have to get my bird after it but if I dont go then I could get my bird in September.....So I dont know what to do. Did you see Irene Pepperberg? Thats one of the reasons I want to go!!
When we went to Bird Paradise there was this HUGE cage with 2 macaws (catalinas i think). They were INSANE!! They were play fighting while hanging upside down LOL. Then they just started screaming for a few seconds then stopped. LOL they were crazy.

woops meant to finish that, accidentaly hit the post button...we missed all the pallooza stuff but its such an awsome store that i had just as much fun visiting! as for the cockatoo screams, xreinx has it spot on. i think i was so exited to hear a parrot it didnt bother me and i was happy he was enjoying life, but i am a little wierd when it comes to bird screams, its not so much volume that bothers me, but pitch. for example, the macaws at my school scream during class sometimes which doesnt bother me, i like hearing them happy (lets just say my school isnt an expert on large bird care...). but when i cant stand the shrill call of sun conures. there great birds just so high pitch.

Your school has macaws!?
When I went there was a mollucan 'too and it was adorable!! When I walked over to look at him he put his head down for a scratch!! So I kept scratching it and I finally got him to step up. When he did he wouldn't get off!!! He cuddled on my shoulder :)

its weird i kinda like the sounds of macaws to, i like the hoarse sound, its good to know im not crazy if other people like it lol. i wish i had the courage to hold large birds. its sorta embarrassing, i am completely obsessed with birds but to afraid to hold most of them! i am comfortable petting them but when they step up i have trouble getting them down, i think thats why im scared. i want to go to bird paradise and maybe ask one of the staff to help me with this they have plenty of birds and are pretty freindly so im sure theyd help :).
