Howdy everyone,
I have been looking at getting a parrot for a few months now, just don't want to jump in cold feet. I have been reading all I can and trying to get as much info as I can before making the decision. My favorite species are the cockatoos, Mccaws, Sun Conures, Amazons, and Indian Ringnecks.
I saw a baby blue and gold McCaw yesterday that will be ready to wean in about 4 months. I am thinking about getting him, but still haven't read too much about the McCaws. I saw a 6 year old B&G as well and they are beautiful birds.
I do have other pets. One basset hound, two cats, and then my trouble make is a German Sheperd pup. He is just over a year old and is smart as anything. We went through puppy kindergarden with him and my wife and I learned the basics of clicker training. He learned all his basic commands like sit, down, come, stay (somewhat). Since class, I have taught him to speak. My wifes favorite is when I ask him what the puppy says or how does sandpaper feel and he answers me. I also taught him to whisper since he does get fairly loud when he gets going.
I'm sure I'll have questions. I have been reading as much as I can find and looking on the net for info on birds and parrots. Thanks for having me.
