Hi everybody! I'm from Haughton, Louisiana. I am actually a reptile breeder who just recently found out I have this huge passion for birds. I have a B&G Macaw baby that I'm handfeeding. He just flew for the first time a few nights ago. I also have a DYH Amazon, a CAG, a Quaker Parrot and a White face Pearl Cockatiel. We are hoping to become a licensed Parrot Rescue soon and we are also a Reptile Rescue. Well that is about it. I look forward to meeting everyone. :)

Welcome!

Okay, first, we *require* pictures hehehe ... LOTS OF THEM

Second, well, thats very cool that you do reptile rescue. Before you do parrot rescue though please make sure you know at least a little about pretty much everything including behavioral stuff. Also make sure you have a good avian vet within easy access as you will be needing their help (and its good to have one for your own birds). Almost all vets have some bird training, but not all vets are actual avian vets who specialize in birds.

Anyways its excellent to hear about a fellow big heart and welcome again to the forum. Loads of good people around here and I'm sure others will be by any time now to welcome you here :)

Oh ... and PICTURES!!!!!! hehehehe

Sounds like you have an interesting array of animals and experience. I look forward to hearing your stories. Have fun with your baby macaw!!! My fiance, Tex, has been drooling over macaws since we got into birds. Thats a vey long way off for us, and even then it will be a little one like a severe. So he will be interested in all you have to say. Welcome :) :)

Hi Cindy! I remember you from the other forum! Her B&G, Ollie is the cutest thing ever! And her Amazon is awesome too! I don't think I've seen the others yet though.

Didn't you get your cockatiel from a bird fair not to long ago?

I also like reptiles and have had many. I hate it when pet stores sell them and do not educate the people on their needs. I have taken in so many iguanas where the people were not informed about UV lighting, the sad damage that does. Makes you cry.
I have a 2400 sf building with heat and air about 40 foot ceilings. I have always wanted to open a bird rescue but I know I could never afford the upkeep of them. I go there and picture it full of birds with high enough ceilings that each could have a turn out to actually get a good flight. I did not know you needed a license.
Good luck to you, you lucky gal.

I know when we got our geckos the shop was trying to sell us bearded dragons, iguana's etc, even when Andi (hubby) told them he didn't know that much about those, Made me really angry, I wondered then just how many get set loose, or given away.

Welcome to the Parrot Forums!!!

Can't wait to see pictures. Good for you running a rescue for reptiles, many people don't know what their getting into when getting reptiles (many other animals for that matter) Post pictures of the reptiles too but post a warning first so Peta doesn't have to look :D :p
