One Male eclectus (Oliver)
Hey all we are new here, My name is Sammara (sam for short) and for christmas (a few days early) my partner bought me a Eclectus.
Now we did our research and the breeders actually a friend of ours (he breeds the Eclectus but also has a pair of cockatoos, indian ring necks and a 4yr old pair of Macaws, he has one breeding pair of eclectus plus two more pair, one set being introduced and the other already together just not breeding yet)
Oliver is male ( lol ) and hatched in mid october. So hes two months old.
He was just (yesterday) handed over to us because the breeder just hasnt got the time atm to handle him a lot while hes working and such and Oliver was starting to freak out each time a hand was put into his box.

Since yesterday Olly has been happy to hang out on the bed (sitting on a towel) with us or as he currently is...curled up on the towel on my lap after breakfast lol

I am going to enjoy raising him as ive raised a few other animals having had wild life carrer parents ive raised from babies birds kangaroos wallabies bandicoots lizards snakes an echidina and then all the pet animals chooks ducks rabbits guniepigs rats mice birds fish dogs cats and horses.

so thats all there really is to know i look forward to meeting new people to share this new amazing journey with.

Hello Sam & Olly welcome.

Please don't spoil him to much especially at this age. He really needs to be taught to be a good bird & be independent as well as a great companion parrot.

Welcome to the forum. I take it your friend did not take the time to handfeed? If he's working so much that he don't have the time, he shouldn't be breeding them!!! I work a lot too as well and I handfeed before I go to work and before I go to bed. I sleep late to check on my babies before bed. IF my ekkies had babies, I would turn the feeding schedule upside down to make it happen, I would feed them through the night by setting alarm clock and work during the day. I've done this before long time ago!
