I had owned a red front, and he passed from fatty liver and possible PDd. I know I can't keep beating myself up and he was a much loved bird, but I was sad and angry - why when people put a bird in a closet or don't feed them do they live and my bird died - it just doesn't seem fair! Anyway from fate or something I was able to rescue a 7 yr old female. She is supper sweet, but was apparently spoiled beyond belief at her old home do we are working on not screaming and not getting her own way all the time. She is much louder than my first red front - any suggestions on helping her use her indoor voice more? We ignore the screams and praise her when she is quite. She does talk and do some tricks, so we try to reinforce that instead of the bad, but boy can she break an eardrum!!! Thanks:green1:

I would say keep doing what you're doing with ignoring the unwanted behaviors and rewarding the good ones.

I, too, lost a bird at too young of an age, and I know how you feel. I just adopted an amazon that was neglected and is 29 years old, and I lost a conure at only 10.5. PDD though is inherited and always fatal, unfortunately. You had no way of knowing and could not have prevented it.
