New parrot owners

Hello, we just adopted a 32year old Amazon parrot. Her name is April, she is warming up to us nicely. I have pics on my phone and will try to post one here soon.

Congratulations and what a wonderful thing to give a forever home to an Amazon. My OWA is 13 this month & I've had him for 2 years. He is my best friend & constant companion. Welcome to the forum & hope to see more posts from you.

Thank you! We got her today, when we picked her up, her previous owner had to put her in the cage she would just try to bite us. Now within hours she will let both of us hold her, she loves sitting on our shoulders.

Welcome to the forum and amazon ownership. I believe April is a Panama amazon. Panamas look a lot like Yellow Crowns though. I bet Pete would like to be her boyfriend!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. We believe she is a Panama also. She is doing great, and warming up quickly. Today she told us "I love you" in order to try and get the plum I was eating!

Wait until I tell him, lol! He is girlfriend shopping. My Grey and conure keep turning him down, as do I! Tell her he is a very sweet boy, and will do a good job feeding her and the babies. I can personally vouch for his regurgitation abilities

He loves to watch videos of other amazons talking and singing. He is becoming quite the talker himself. Funny how many new things he's learned since he's been here. I didn't know at his age if he would learn more, but he has doubled his vocabulary!

We are amazed at how much she says! We want to teach her more words, and we can tell when she is trying to repeat something and is working it out!
