Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum. I recently ( 3 days ago) adopted a 5-6 yo female blue front amazon, my first "big" parrot. As a child, my first bird was a common parakeet, then in my early 20s I had a Quaker, now that I'm 37 I decided to take the big plunge and I adopted what I wanted for many years, the amazon. Previous owners had her for about 4 years and where getting rid of her because she bonded to the mother and was very aggressive to every one else in the family, especially when the mom was around ( husband and 3 boys). Now in my family, there is me, my wife, son and three daughters. I would like to be able to socialize her so that the same does not occur.

Good luck with that. Some of these species bond become very aggressive to the rest of the family. I am so glad to hear you adoped instead of buying a baby. We need to take care of the thousands that don`t have good homes first.
Thanks

Hey Grendel, welcome to the forum. I don't have an agenda or fanatical cause, just here to help new amazon owners like yourself. I mostly hangout in the amazon section. Hope to see you around there. I'd suggest reading though some of the older threads in that section and the behavioral section also.lots of good ,helpful members here, so ask question and we'll be glad to help. Richard

PS we love pics and vids so post away.

BTW give us as much background as you can on your zon, family and set up, when you start a thread
