Hi, everyone! I'm new here to Parrot Forums. I also frequent BirdChannel's forums but I'm glad to have found a parrot specific forum. Nice to meet all of you. :)

My name is Kelsey and I'm from Indiana. I live at home with my family, but I work full-time. I have a huge list of hobbies that are very important to me. 'Hobbies' sounds too flippant; I seriously love all of the things I get into! A few of my interests are playing piano/pipe organ, drawing, reading, solving puzzles/riddles, gardening, cooking/baking, canning, farming, mathematics, physics, airplanes/boats, plants, animals, video games, and...last but not least...BIRDS!

I currently own a 7-year old sun conure. I took her in 3 years ago from a man that didn't know much about her, and didn't take good care of her. She was stuck in a security business all day, with no one to give her attention. It has definitely taken a toll on her, because she's not very social, and has gone through a loop of emotions in the time I've had her. She FINALLY lets me pet her on the back, which she has traded that with stepping up onto my finger (she won't do that anymore, she only sits in the cage near the door and let's me pet her). She no longer eats only seed (her diet before I got her), but a pelleted, all-natural diet. She doesn't like fruits or vegetables, but will nibble grapes on occasion. She DOES like bread, and occasionally Cherrios.

I'm in the process of acquiring a blue and gold macaw from a man who can no longer care for the bird. I'm actually visiting him tomorrow! I hope to finally break into the macaw branch of aviculture with this bird. He's supposedly really great! Now I can put all my reading and learning about macaws to work while learning hands-on about these great birds. :)

Anyway, that's me. Nice to meet you. :) :orange:

Very cool! And close in age (I'm 23). I don't meet many Kelsey's, especially those that spell it with -ey at the end! :)

hi im new here..m 25 nd just ended my contract in my work as a nurse.as of now i dont hve any job.lol. i recently lost my 2.5month old nyasa lovebird, dat was 2 days ago, when i accidentally left her outside outside for 1minute thinking that he was already tamed and will go back at my command. she was handfed since she was 2weeks old nd d breeder gave her to me as a gift in her 4weeks of existence. from then on she was raised as a baby, feeding her with birdseed 3 times a day as well as veges and fruits once a day and was properly trained. she already knew how to turn around, wave, retrieve, pick and bring it to me thing, indoor flight recall, nod, target, and talk "nice." i've tried to train him outside 2days ago and she flew from a tree and goes back to me, however, on my 2nd attempt she just flew away from tree to tree and never to return again until now. we've searched for her and talked also from the neighborhood and still dont have news. im still searching for her tnow and never giving up. i also hae 5 budgies,8months old, 1of which im taming for 5days.anyone of you knows where i can buy blue naped parrot? anyone of y

I don't think you'll get a reply from the original poster here as this thread was made 5 YEARS AGo. I think this person is long gone, hasn't posted or been on the forum since 2014!
