Hi All,

I have one pair of love birds and they are just 4 to 5 months old.
Both of them are looking healthy, however from the day i bought them I mean from yesterday they aren't eating or drinking water?

I am litle worried since I dont much knowledge about their behavior?

I have got the seeds given by pet shop owner to feed them.

Can anybody will help me to undertand why are they not eating anything and how to make them eat?:blue2:

Sometimes birds won't drink in front of you. Are you sure they haven't had anything to eat or drink? Do you know what their favorite foods are? You could try something that they really like. I would call the previous owner immediately and get some recommendations. Are they puffed up? All of our birds at immediately--in the car even. Maybe put them in a quite area or partially cover the cage so they are more comfortable...

They are a little scared because they are in a new environment so you have to give them some space and don't interact with them until a week so they could get used to the new environment

thank u all for your advice.

I did observe them yesterday...they were not having anythng....so as u said...today i covered 1/2 of the cage with light colored cloth and chnaged the water and seeds.
Today I whole day i was at work...so now go home n check if there is any progress.

However morning they did try to chat whn i tried to talk to them. Hoping to c them having seeds regularly...as they used to have same kind of seeds with previous owner.

Also want to know how can i gv them bath...wil the water spray do the job...or should I put water bowl in cage itself.

It's your choice. I putted a birdie bath in my budgies cage and they don't take a bath from it they use it as a mega water bowel lol I use a misting bottle and once a week I would mist them . I also use a birdie bath feather mister. It's a bottle that has a special liquid that you could use instead of water. I bought it yesterday and used on my budgies and they're feathers are so soft !

some birds will take baths regularly, some won't. I fill a spray bottle with warm warm water, put it on a fine mist, and spray them. make sure the spray falls OVER them and not AT them.don't soak them, just so their top feathers get wet...my cockatiels never take a bath, but love being misted.

as for not eating, put some millet in the cage, it's like junk candy for a bird and they love it. that should start them eating. I was told that millet contains a mould so 3 a week is enough, you can also break them in half.
