im not sure what breed she is but she has yellow and green feathers and a red cap :s
hey guys im ed, edward or eddy whichever :) it said to post a bit about myself and my bird so here goes any advice you could give would be greatly appreciated cause im so new to all of this

so ive recently been given a 12 week old parrot from one of my mothers friends no idea what breed she is, all i can tell you is that she is green and yellow and has a red cap atop of her head, im not pleased with how she is looking at the moment had her two days so far and her tail feathers seem slightly distressed and the previous owner gave her to us with budgie food and im sure after much research this is nowhere near nutritious enough for her cause she will only eat sunflower seeds and as i understand it they contain a lot of fat. so tonight ive given her sliced and diced carrot and pepper, first thing tomorrow morning im going to the nearest pet store and getting her some proper parrot pellets :D

p.s her names charlie :green1:

Welcome to the forum!

Dint change her food all at once. Gradually, like, 90% seeds/10% pellets, then after a week or two, 80/20, then 70/30 , 60/40, etc. This can shock her organs, i believe.

Can you post a picture of her so we can determine her species(not breed :)). How big is she?

looks like a kakariki :) I linked to photos and information on kakariki for you to check out. They have a small bird mentality... very fast and flighty and will take a lot of time to settle in.

Oh, you know, know that I see your avatar , it's definitely a kakari. My mistake, it sounded like a red bored amazon to me. Without a picture it's kind of hard. :p
