Hello from Texas!
Hi Everyone!
I am a mom of 3 kids and 3 step kids. (*insert Brady Bunch joke here*) We have 5 boys and 1 girl. Their ages are 20, 20, 17, 16, 14, and 12. As crazy as it sounds, I also have 2 dogs, 2 cats, 3 lizards, and a frog. It's pretty busy in our home some days, but the older the kids get--the less they are around--and the quieter the home becomes. I have had a couple of birds earlier in my life and my dream bird has always been an AG. I want a fun bird, that is friendly, smart, and if he was able to learn a few words it would be great! I have been shopping around without really finding what I was looking for. Today I stopped in at my local bird store, mostly to chat with the birds and admire them. They have a lot of beautiful birds, but the dude that caught my eye was little TAG, Buddy. He is so sweet. He stepped up on my hand readily, and wasn't skittish at all. He is 6 months old. Long story short...I am hoping my hubby will drop by the shop after work today, and fall in love with him too. The people in the store said they will hold him until the end of the day today. I guess if it is meant to be, I will have a new baby bird soon. I'm very excited! Keep your fingers crossed for me! Look forward to meeting you all! Beth |

A Sooner fan living in Tx............hmmmm LOL Hope you get your bird, they are awesome to have as family members although your other pets might not agree with that.

Re: Hello from Texas!
What fantastic news Did you have a cage ready for your new baby? A word of caution: First things first, you must take the bird to a vet to get checked out. Making sure the bird is healthy. Many birds in pet shops carry diseases, unknown to the pet shop owner. Wishing you many many happy years together, with lot of love and an abunance of entertainment. Enjoy the forum ![]()

Re: Hello from Texas!
Welcome to the forum. Another Texan here as well. Congrats on your new baby. TAGs are awesome, I had one many years ago & he was the most well adjusted parrot I ever had the pleasure of meeting. He never knew a stranger & would readily let anyone hold him. He was a character. Good luck & have fun!
To answer your question Julie86, TAG stands for Timneh African Grey, they are the smaller ones with a dark maroon tail. AG stands for African Grey & CAG stands for Congo African Grey, the larger ones with red tail feathers. It is hard to remember all the abbreviations at first when there are so many beautiful birds out there to love. Last edited by Turquoise; 12-08-2012 at 10:27 PM. Reason: misspelled a word. |
