Hello from california

Hi, my name is Jim and I found this site a few days back and like what I've seen. To help maintain my sanity I have always had pets, not always conventional types but then I've found within reason some of the more unusual or exotics can be amazing pets. At the moment and in fact I guess for about the last 15 years it has been fish and birds. I have a 2500 gallon pondfull of goldfish in the backyard and 300 gallons of peacock bass in my bedroom, but the little flying monkey currenly chewing on my left ear is a 3 yr old female sun conure named bobbi. I sometimes wish that she had a mate so that it wouldn't be quite so loud around here, but then I think you lose some of the hand raised effect if shes got a husband. Anyway, after a very short period I have come to realize that I don't know what I'd do if this house didn't have at least 20 ear splitting shrieks eminating from it in a day. HA! I so know that feeling ... Sun Conure screeches are sometimes too much, but I think it would be too quiet without Hamlet around my house ...

And just think, in about 6 months I will have a newborn on top of it all adding to the noise in the house ... think Hamlet can out scream a newborn at 3 in the morning? *LOL*

Oh, in my opinion, absolutely, but congratulations!. Anybody that can put up with the daily vocals of the smaller parrots should most certainly be in charge of world peace,so I know you'll be perfect parents if you aren't already. My neighbor some years back had a macaw and was the one who got me interested in the parrot breeds over your typical finch or cockatiel in the first place almost changed my mind because of the shear volume of his birds voice, but now in retrospect maybe going smaller for that flying monkey I ended up with wasn't the best avenue to go because of the higher notes she seems to to be able reach without even waking up yet. Or is it pitch? it's been a while since I could hold a straight line of thought for more than a few minutes and my hearing isn't what it used to be!. Enjoy, Jim.

Welcome. If it is noise you desire you should be in my living room. I have 16 fids in here. The loudest being a M2 and a B&G Macaw. Then there is a sun conure,
a BFA, a Patagonian Conure, 2 Green Cheek conures, 4 parrotlets, a Half moon Conure, 3 lovebirds and a Congo african grey. For the most part they are quiet but we sure do have our moments around here.

Now you just need a partridge ....
