Hi everyone I am very happy to find this forum As of posting this in 7 days my Moluccan Cockatoo " Kong" will be here. He is 18 yrs old and has been hand fed and raised by my father. When my son was born almost 10 yrs ago in 2 months my father wept as he held the baby in is arms and said I finally have some one to leave the bird to, well I have been waiting ever since.
Kong is fed a good diet has a huge cage and is very socialized he loves everyone he meets. Over the last few years my father has been working
long hours and has recently bought himself a puppy, so Kong is not getting the attention he deserves and needs, my father calls me and ask me if would take Kong, I have to admit I am disappointed in my father for giving up his companion after 18 yrs but am delighted he made the choice to call me before anymore time passes and Kong is really left without the attention he deserves.
I am a hermit, there is a lot of crazy out there that I just don't want to be part of. I own an Internet business and work from home. So Kong will not be left alone for long hours anymore with no o e to talk to.
My family has had parrots as long as I have been alive, it is in our blood!
I am very familiar with how loud he can be and it does not scare me one bit. I live in the mountains so he will not disturb the neighbors either, there is lake on side and a graveyard on the other.
I do have a few concerns but I will post the in the Too forum.
I love animals all shapes and sizes but I tolerate people.
Thank you all so much for the wealth of information I appreciate it !!
