Quick question

I know this may sound paranoid but, I have an IRN and it would rather be on my girlfriend than me and its got me really scared that if I spend the $800 plus on a CAG it will go to her and take up with her instead of me. It will be a hand fed baby, are my concerns valid or am I just being extremely paranoid?

Re: Quick question

Hmmmm, I can see your problem, but the only one able to answer your question is your IRN and every companion bird I have met is an independent thinker. If it is any consequence, birds do acclimate fairly easily when relationships are relatively short, so there is probably hope for you & the IRN, should there be other changes.....

Good luck.....

Re: Quick question

I messed up my question I want to get a CAG and I'm afraid it will happen again with it. The CAG will be hand fed, the IRN wasn't.

Just have her not interact with the CAG or keep it to a minimum and play with him or her more

Re: Quick question

Is there any truth to the theory that a female bird likes male owners more and vice versa that a male bird likes a female owner better?

No.

However, some birds may prefer females and some males - for some, due to who raised them (if hand fed), or if they've for example been abused or have negative experiences with one gender in the past.

Re: Quick question

There will always be that risk, yes. One could take some time off work and be alone with an animal for a week, but there's no guarantee you won't be come #2 when your girlfriend walks through the door.

Thanks for the input, I may go get a cockatiel after all and see if it happens with it and if it goes well I'll get my African grey. Still know its not a guarantee but it would make me worry less.

Re: Quick question

Your chances would be better if you and your GF would go and visit several young birds. Pick the baby that picks you.
