I just got a baby yellow sided conure almost one week ago. she is really great. she like to fly out of the cage directly onto our shoulders but the only problem with this is she bit my ear pretty hard the other day. i have never owned a bird before and not quite sure what to do to make her stop? everytime we go near her cage she hopes on the sides and flyes around like she wants out but to be honest i am afriad i will get bit again? any advice on what we should do? another problem is if we put her on top of her cage she flies right to us how do we get her to stay up there and not fly on top of us. oh and hello to everyone i am brand new to this forum. :green2: :21:

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your new baby. Birds bite at times. It will happen When mine do I tell them no bite And if it continues they go back on their cage. To stop the flying Have the pet store or vet or bird groomer clip both wings . they will eventually grow back but in the meantime they are easier to tame and handle. The bird is very new to you and it takes time for a bird to start trusting you. Everything is brand new for her, new people new sounds new house, new sounds. Start looking at the older conure posts in the forum part of this site . there is a lot of info on feeding, taming, bonding, ect.:)
