Hi to all, my name is Marge. I live in Maine. Bob, my 3 year old Jenday Conure, rules my world. Bob loves bells and Bob loves "clackers" (the inside of the bell that makes the noise). Yesterday I placed a new toy with an attached bell, in Bob's house. Bob said, "Thank you. You're a good bird"! Bob was adopted from a rescue organization. He was surrendered following a divorce where Bob had bonded with a male human. The female "biological" human, kept Bob as a manipulative pawn, until Bob became "too noisy". She put Bob in a closet for a week where he ran out of food and water. I will post a pic soon. He's quite the lovey. He's been with me in his forever home for a month now. Each day he finds that not all female humans are "bad" birds.

Bad enough that people use their own kids for pawns.......even worse when you use an innocent animal as a pawn. Thank you for giving him a good home! I'm glad you two are getting along well! :)

I have a canary! I hope that's okay! I just want to make some friends with some other bird lovers.
That is such a beautiful story. I've got a little tear going :) You are such a good spirit Marge!

Rescue stories are always so heartwarming. I wish all birds found happy forever after. . .

Wow, thank each and everyone of YOU. Bob thanks you too. Bob's a sweet, sweet, bird. I am teaching him to play ball. We are loving each other more and more every day. He meows, like a cat just before he poops. I'm thinking shoulder ride soon? He deserves "happy". Any suggestions/stories each of you are willing to offer, so appreciated. I'm a sponge when it comes to "good Bob, GOOD bird". Again THANK YOU for the warm welcome.

When I taught Sweet Pea how to play ball, I sat right down on the floor and tossed the ball and said (very excitedly) "go get it!! go get it!" I would nudge Sweet Pea towards where the ball had gone and say "over there, go get it over there." Quickly she caught on to the game, and would toss it wildly, yelling "GO GET IT!." The more we played, she then got the hang of actually tossing the ball directly to me... if it went a little to the side of me, she'd yell "go get it - over there!"

We started playing with the little plastic balls that have a bell inside. They roll quite a ways on a hard surface, and sometimes that was a problem. We then switched to hacky sacks, and my goodness, does she love hacky sacks! She'll play by herself with them too, tossing them high into the air and jumping up to catch them. She'll get two of them side by side and attack them like a puppy would. I don't put them inside her cage, she can only play with them outside of the cage. They are cloth and I don't want them pooped on or a toenail caught in them. She has a ton of fun with them though when she's playing outside the cage.

We do have a "Get it, get it, get it. Get it now. Get it right now" game we play. He remembers the toy I bought him at the rescue. Next to that toy, he has another toy with another bell on it. He begins to toss the two around, he'll say, "get it now". He also makes sure he lifts the bell (purchased at rescue) up to show me he's already torn out the "clacker". Other times he'll have the bell on his head. At a glance you see a parrot body, a beak, and a bell. It,s so darned cute I'm not ready to interrupt it by taking a picture. He also tilts his head to one side with his foot up to the side of his head, as though he's talking on the cell phone with me WITH the bell on his head. I'm in love. Rest assured.
