sun conure cage bound

7 year old sun I just got him a month ago from a women who has had him from young. Problem is she spent very little time with this cute guy and now he is cage bound in the worst way. We can not get him out of the cage to even try step up commands. Every once in a blue moon he will step up on my husbands finger but as soon as my husb takes him out of the cage he flies right backin. Then thats it. He loves being scratched but only between the bars. Can some one help maybe Im missing something or doing something wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Helen carriere. PS I am new here and love this siteI also forgot tosay I have a 7 year old geen cheek conure I have had her since she was 6 months old she is perfect and lovable steps up on command and is trained to poop only on the play gym. she sleeps against my cheeks and love to play with us . So its not like we dont know what we are doing I hope.
