One good name is jack!
Hi,
I bought an african grey in December. And no matter what I do he will not eat veggies and fruit...I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions! He's eight months old and is wonderful and smart already. Knows a few tricks not talking yet but he's still young.Im just frustrated about the food for I want him to be as healthy as possible! Would appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks!

Hmmm, sounds like me when I was younger...had to sleep at the table one night because I didn't eat my green beans...still don't.....

Sometimes allowing your bird(s) to join you at mealtime works, because unless a bird has been taught, by parents, siblings or other flock members, they have no idea that a particular food item is food and if you sit and make a big deal of eating something, they often get curious enough to try it.....best to work with just one food item at a time.....

Several years ago I knew a lady who had some friends walk in on her when she was trying to teach her bird to eat various greens, so she'd made a salad w/o dressing & was carrying on so, that she didn't her a knock at her door. Snce they were expected, the friends walked in to find her with her face in the salad bowl just mumbling away.....though I'm sure the neighborhood commented about her mental state in private, she got the bird to start eating greens.....probably be a good idea to lock your front door when demonstrating.....

I know this thread is old but pretend to eat the greens, and offer some to your bird. They want to do what you are doing, and will try it. If this doesn't work talk to an avian vet. good luck!
