Today*02:13 AM*-*permalinksunny36hi ppls I have a 3 month old semi tamed galah pretty sure its a male. I bought him from a bird breeder. I would like any advice about how to have him fully trained. he sometimes likes to sit on my shoulder or my wrist but for short periods but he sees his cage near by and will fly to it even though his wings are clipped. or even when I'm away from his cage he wants to be inquisitive while sitting on my shoulder and flies off away from me or maybe too he gets a bit flighty and wants to do what he wants.I went away for a week and my boyfriend looked after my bird but there was not a lot of interaction as my bird was kept outside during the day in a cage and now that I'm back from being away my bird seems different like I explained earlier in this message.any advice would be greatly appreciated :)

Have you ever researched about touch and trick training with a clicker? That would really benifit you. These allow you to bond with your bird and you get to do something fun together.

What's your birds diet? A diet can also change the behavior of a bird

hi yes I had done some research and found some interesting information about that but would love to know where to buy them from as I'm living in Australia and am not sure if here they sell them.
his diet is mixed grain seeds for galahs then also he has some vegetables.

Clickers are extremely common in dog training, so most pet stores that also serve dogs should carry clickers.

As for diet, we have many Australians here who can recomend a pellet that is available there. I highly recommend Harrison's but in australia it is very expensive since it is shipped over from the United States, some vets will carry it.

Also remember to feed lots of fresh veggies and some fruit. A chop mix is a fantastic way to include veggies, fruit, and even grains into your birds diet.
