Hello everyone!
My name is Isabella, and I came across this forum when I typed in "Conure Forums". I recently went to a local Petco and came across a beautiful Pineapple Green Cheek Conure, and I instantly felt a connection to this bird. I own an 11 year old gecko and I was getting some food for him, and this bird just caught my eye. It waved at me with its wings and then little feet and started quietly chirping, wanting to get out of the cage. (I'm not sure what gender.)
It also made me sad how the Petco was pretty empty and it seems like the employees don't give it the attention it needs. :( The other birds were friendly as well, adding to that.
The thing is, I have absolutely no experience with birds. My father has experience with birds and I do have a few friends who have Conures, though.

Are they noisy birds? This bird seemed pretty quiet and sweet, but I don't know for sure since I only spent a little time with him/her.
I would like to know more about this bird- possibly information coming from people who own the birds! I want to give this bird everything it needs if I bring it into my life, taking into consideration that they live 20+ years.
I know they need lots of attention, and that's something I wouldn't have a problem with at all.
I hope I can get some good advice and stuff from you guys! thanks :D

They are great little birds who are know to be quieter then some, but all birds are different. A GCC would be my first choice if I was just getting into birds after a teil that is :D

Welcome to the forums!
GGCs are considered to be one of the quieter parrots. They don't sing or talk much, and although they have the occasional screaming fit, it's considered much milder then most other parrots.
They can be very moody at times and can be picky about who they consider friends or enemies, but when everything is working out for you, they can be the cutest, happiest little bundles of joy that you could imagine! :)

wow. 11 year old gecko. has he lived with that long?

Isabella, it sounds like you would give great love and care to a conure. It's a huge commitment to bring home a parrot for life, but if it's right for you, it will be more rewarding than you can imagine.

Thanks everyone :)
A small bird with a big personality sounds good to me. I live in an apartment so I wouldn't want to have my neighbors complain about bird chirping. But this bird didn't seem noisy. :p I've also read that they could learn to sing and talk a bit so that seems really cool. They seem like such intelligent birds.
And yea, my little gecko has lived all that time with me. :)
Also, all of your bird pictures are beautiful!! :red1:
