Indian Ringneck, English Buddgie, considering a Hyachinth
My name is Celeste. I have trained dogs in AKC competition for over 20 years. I have also trained a few pet birds of my own. I've had American parakeets,Cockatiels and Indian Ringnecks. Currently I have an English Buddgie and an Indian Ringneck. A friend wants me to adopt her beautiful Hyacinth. A species I've wanted all my life. Now here is the opportunity but I have no knowledge about caring training and owning a Macaw.
This bird is sweet and loving to her owner. But is suspicious of strangers. I've had one meeting with the Hyacinth and it went cautiously well on both our parts. I need advice and guidance. I don't want to take the bird if I am not equiped to care for such an amazing and beautiful creature.

Welcome to the forums. I do not have experience with Macaws but other members here certainly do. I have no doubt TexDot will chime in on this one when he comes online next. Though with your background, and your acknowledgment of what a serious idea taking home such a bird is I have no doubt that you would make a fine owner - far more so than the average person who takes an interest in a beautiful Macaw.

Hopefully our Macaw experts can provide some specifics.
