Achilles my blind Cockatiel, she is four years old.
a Moluccan Cockatoo that it's over 30 years old.
Hello fellow bird paparazzi!
My name is Caitlin Bird and I am a university student studying Biology with a minor in Psychology. Just waiting on three more semesters until I can graduate so I can play with animals the rest of my life!
I have a real passion in birds and Behavior Modification which has led me to become a bit of an animal trainer. Unfortunately I have seen a great lack of understanding in how people apply behavior modification when they try to train their animals. This can cause undue stress on our companions and lower their quality of life. I have had a blog up for several years now with the goal of being readable and fun to help bird/animal caretakers with understanding and training their loved pets. It is named The Sequential Psittacine and can be seen here.
I started loving birds at around the age of 8 years old when I acquired my first budgerigar who lived until I was 20. I have since fostered an Alexandrine Parakeet and currently own a blind cockatiel named Achilles with the hopes of fostering another bird soon. I have much more bird care experience that can be elaborated on another day, but includes rescue work and zoo and aquarium work.
Sometimes my blog is supplemented with my YouTube Channel and even Achilles my Cockatiel makes appearances!
I hope we can have fun on these boards and that I can make some new friends along the way. I will probably be posting mostly on the behavior forum as it is what I really love.
Oh, and if you were wondering about Achilles and how she became blind you can find her introduction here.
