Kiwi~White Winged Parakeet (Brotogeris versicolurus) Hatched 2/21/13
Hi everyone! I'm new to this forum but I thought I'd share a little about my White Winged Parakeet, Kiwi! :)

I bought Kiwi when he/she (just calling it a "he" until I know for sure) was 2 months old from a local specialty bird store. I originally was looking to buy a sun conure or another similar sized bird, as I've had a lovebird in the past, but when the owner showed me Kiwi I instantly fell in love. Here's a picture of him the first day I saw him:

I've had him now for almost 3 months and he's the BEST little bird I could have ever asked for! He's so playful and so affectionate. He loves to go out with me to places like the mall and the grocery store. I bought an Aviator harness for him just to be safe, even though his wings are clipped at the moment I plan to let his flight feathers grow out from now on. Here's some recent pictures of my little feathered friend:

I've been feeding him a small hookbill diet from the bird store I bought him at (they make it at the store) but a few days ago I switched him over to Harrison's Bird Food. I'm using the High Potency Fine pellets and he really seems to like them a lot. Today I put only pellets in his food dish, and in the morning/night I'm giving him a little bit of the old seed mixture just to make sure he's not starving. If any of you have used Harrison's please let me know how you like it!!

Anyway, I just wanted to share a bit about my Kiwi. I'll update with pictures every so often <3

What a beautiful baby you got there. He looks sweet and content. Yes, I feel Harrison's too. I have a parrotlet on the HP fine and my Senegal is on both HP fine and coarse. They both love it. I also feed nutirberries as a snack, fresh fruit, veggies and only use seed for training.
