I have lurked on this site for a while, and finally joined tonight. I have been a budgie owner for many years, but don't own any at the moment. I do have 2 cockatiels. Cookie was purchased at a pet store very young. She's a great bird, very social and loves training/learning new things. Herbie is a rescue cockatiel with some missing toes. He is content to do his own thing and is acceptably social.
We also have a foster bird (not my first), a Quaker named Popsicle. He is learning to be social and is catching on quickly with his clicker training.

Like a lot of parrot owners, I have a little bit to offer and a lot to learn.

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome. I appreciate it.

Antoinette, thanks for the kind words on the names.
Herbie was adopted as a 10 year old adult and already had a name that he recognized. He even says "Hello Herbie" on occasion.

Cookie was named after the Cookie Monster on Sesame Street. If you saw the was she eats, you'd understand.

Popsicle is a rescue that we are likely to adopt. He was owned by an elderly lady that suffered from dementia. A home health care nurse noticed the lady walk by with the bird into the kitchen, and then return without the bird. The nurse searched the kitchen and found the bird in the refrigerator. He was removed from the home right after that. The parrot rescue place named him Popsicle as a result.
