Hello to all,
Just wanted to introduce myself properly and say thank you for allowing me to be a part of your forum.

I am an all-around animal person; I rescue everything, bottle feed anything, rehabilitate wildlife for release and help turtles across the road. I have been this way all of my life. I've had many interesting experience with animals of all types and it has been an honor and a priviledge to interact with so many wonderful creatures.

In the avian part of the animal world, I have rehabbed many a baby bird for release and have so many here around my home now that know me as "mom". For the parrot part; I've painted many. Not sure how that became a primary subject for me but I have met many wonderful people with some incredibly funny stories about their babies. I'm fascinated with their intelligence and some of the antics I've heard. :) For many years I donated and supported the fight to find a cure for PDD, worked with Val and donated many items so they could raise funds for Dr. Ritchie to continue his work. I have also donated work to other humane causes and rescues that are non-avian related. Cocker rescue, ferret rescue, PDD and spay and neuter. I've been invited to create judges awards at avian shows and have had work shown Nationally at various other shows.

I have been away for a few years due to a personal loss and have just recently returned to cyberspace. I plan to reach Val today and pick up with the PDD effort where I left off.

Well, there's a small BOOK for you to read. If you made it this far, I thank you. If you know of a rescue or support a group involved with animals of any type, please feel free to contact me and I will help any way I can.
Thank you all for allowing me to be here.
Sincerely,
Debra Garner

Oh my GOSH!! You sweetie!! Thank you SO much! :)

I was just kind of rambling on to introduce myself.....really didn't consider that someone would actually READ it!! haha!

What a sweetheart you are....thanks so very much for your kind words, your enthusiasm and encouragement. You just made my day!

I tracked down Val...found out she's not doing the Grey "Poop-On" anymore but I wrote the folks who took over. It was really nice to see the webpage again....she even had my name in the list of thanks. I forgot how many wonderful people I met through animals. My belief is ... a person who has the kind of heart that can deeply love an animal like family is my kind of person! They're simply the most wonderful people on the planet!

Anyway....before I go into another BOOK....thanks so much for the wonderful comment. You are a real sweetie. :)

Hi, I'm also a Junior Member and I welcome you to this site. It seems like a good one. I used to bring home any stray when I was a kid (Okay, I still do it at 48), and I appreciate another kindred spirit. I do parrots for a living so if you need anything, please feel free to contact me.:blue:

We are all animal lovers. The birds are extra facinating for some reason. I chose the AGrey because of their ability to interact on so many levels. We all welcome you Lady. Wouldn't it be nice if we could all somehow get together and trade stories in person. Antionette suggested we get a plane for just us and meet somewhere. Of course we would have to bring our feathered friends. The world needs more people like you Lady.

Oh wow.....thank you all so much! How wonderful of you to take the time to post a welcome. Your words are so uplifting. I never really saw myself as someone the world needs more of........:) I have, however, thought on occasion that the animals sure could.

My sweet husband is very understanding about my passion and love for animals - of any kind. It's as much a part of me as breathing! We'll be going down the road and I'll shout "TURTLE!!"....bless his heart, he hits the brakes and backs up so I can help the little one move on across safely. We've had to take boxes of baby birds with us on our beach vacations because they weren't weaned and still being hand fed.

For a while I was rehabbing a teeny baby opossum, and she was in a small cat carrier in our room (she could fit in your hand with room left over - teeny little thing) and sometimes she would take those teeny hands and hold on to the bars, just hanging there and watch us walk through. Hubby told my sister "You know, I never thought we'd have a possum in our room" and my sister told him "As long as you're married to her you will ALWAYS have an animal in your room!" haha! It's true! :) I'd like to also take a moment on behalf of the opossum and say they are not dumb, they are extremely clean (litter train even!) and not ugly! LOL Poor things got a bad rap.

It has been an honor to work with animals and help them. I've had baby deer, chipmunks, squirrels, raccoons, owls, baby birds, baby skunks, foxes, a baby bat (I know, I know....my sister freaked!) and LOTS of all the above except for the bat and fox. Of course there is always cat rescue if one is headed to the pound. I've been doing wildlife for over 25 years and animals in general my whole life. I've had little kids bring me animals to my door...I'm known as the "animal lady". I worked for a vet for a while and when they were about to put something down because they couldn't find a home for it.........well you know - it came home with me :) Gosh I had a lot of animals when I worked for that vet! ha ha!

To wingingit - I've been bringing home stray anything since I was old enough to pick it up and carry it....and I still do! It's a good thing :)

Oh gosh....I can't get started on animals...there will be another BOOK! I'm sure you guys understand that as well.

I would love to trade stories, I have a TON of them!

Thanks for the welcome guys! People that love their animals are just the best and I'm glad to be in the group!
