Hi, I've recently adopted birds from people unable to look after them any more and have heaps to learn. I've had 2 budgies for some time so I'm not a total "bird newbie", but I've adopted a pink and grey galah and 2 weeros, so I have plenty of questions that I hope I'll find answers to.

My cocky is tame and seems quite comfortable with her change in circumstances, not displaying any signs of being stressed out by moving house and "people". She's a character and I've been internet searching for info about training and keeping her amused and active, etc. but it's a huge learning curve for me.

The weeros are not finger tame, but they are not "feral" either. One of them talks to you and the other dances, but they won't come near if you put your hand in. I can get quite close with my hand if I take it slowly, so I think they might get used to it in time. I've brought them inside so they get more used to me and I can talk to them as I go past. One's grey and white and the other the "usual" sort with the rosy cheeks.

The weeros also came with a single budgie. I don't like pets to be on their own, so I got some other young budgies, and then a bigger cage and my budgies have joined the group on my patio. They seem to like having "friends" and the longer cage (and will still go on my finger, which I was happy about, I had read that they go "feral" when they are put into an aviary and interact with the other birds and not their "people".)

I hope others have asked my questions before so that I can find answers without having to spam the forum.:D

Welcome, strudel. I'm to your north a bit (900km or so:)) and have a few weiros and a budgie or two (plus others) and can offer some help although don't consider myself any kind of expert. Good luck "taming" the shy guys, it can be done just takes time and some patience.
