Meyers Parrot 'Kirby' (born Oct 2013)
Hey everyone! Im Jaycee and i happened to rescue a 4 month old Meyers Parrot amidst the Thanksgiving hype. My cockatiel just past away a coupla weeks ago and i was deeply heartbroken so I wanted to sell all her play toys online until I saw an ad for a Meyers Parrot. He/she looked so cute online in the pics I decided to give the owner a call for a look and visit.
To my surprise when I arrived at the man's warehouse (which I initially thought was going to be his home), I saw that the Meyers was stuffed in a small 30x30x20cm cage and was screaming frantically. I swear that cage couldnt even hold a small mouse happily. The man asked me scruffily, 'Ya want it or not? I cant wait forever!' with a cigarette in his mouth. I couldnt help myself but to take him/her.
Took my Meyers to the vet and it was healthy (thank the Lord). But he does NOT trust human hands. Surprisingly, he hugs onto me and me only. He's growled at me for the first 2 days but I give him warm meals and tuck him under my warm chin wherever I go.
He stopped growling this morning and did a little step up today. He still growls at my husband and hides in my hair. He did bite me twice so far but it was nothing compared to my cousin's WB Caique, Cockatiel, Grey and Senegal bite. Didnt draw blood. He started to eat and drink full meals today. I know it will take a while esp given the previous circumstances. So thats my story. Thanks for reading and happy holidays everyone!
Sorry my pic is upside down and I cant seem to fix it.
