I've posted on here a few times about a new U2 that has entered my life and thought I would finally take the time to properly introduce myself. I am a long time bird lover and currently live with 6 tiels, 4 budgies, 2 sun conures and 2 umbrella cockatoos (may be 3 soon). I have always loved birds and birds seem to respond well to me, the 4 budgies aren't tame at all and 2 of them will step up for me and no one else.

I recently got into the parrot scene with an umbrella cockatoo. We had actually been researching grays and were going to look at one when the lady started talking about cockatoos. I have to admit, I've wanted a cockatoo since seeing Beretta as a kid, we did some really quick research on toos, learned about the screaming and biting and thought, hey, we can handle it. We met pearl, she was beautiful she seemed to like me and that was that. I didn't know at the time that we had just taken on one of the most emotionally complex birds there are, not to mention screaming and biting (I really considering it nipping, not biting, she doesn't ever seem to intentionally mean to cause harm, but man, it can hurt). Boy do I love this bird. Funny thing happens when you mention to someone you have a cockatoo, now we have two. I have a thread about Cori Anne in the cockatoo forum. I have learned a lot from forums such as this.

Last weekend, we were at petco getting some food that had a picture of a gray on it, the lady behind us asked if we had a gray. I told her we have cockatoos, turns out she has a cockatoo that she had taken from an abusive situation and needs to rehome. So after this weekend we will probably be adding Daisy Mae to our flock.

Since we got Pearl (she's a rescue bird) we have decided to help as many rescue birds as we can. Our sun's, two of our tiels and both of our cockatoos are rescue birds. Unfortunately, if we take on Daisy Mae, I think that is about all we can handle. I wish we could do more.
