Anyway, i hope someone can help me with all the Ekkie questions i'll be asking soon!! Especially need info on the female side, she's due to join in December.

Hope to hear from you all soon!!:)

Since i was talking about my featherless parakeet in this first post, and not to give all a shock of how he looks like in the photo gallery, i'd thought i'll post it here first.

Here he is when he had feathers...he was 4 years old then, after that he began losing feathers...

And here he is now...

Awwwwwww bless him, he is still so darn cute, feathers or no feathers.

Does he pluck them out or just losing them? How long has this been going on? Has he been checked over by an avian vet?

Sorry about all the questions, I'm just interested. He has a twinkle in his eye and looks happy enough. I love him to bits. Beautiful.

Yes, i had him at the vet, and they said it will cost alot to fix it- not guaranteed to work:eek: . So i thought of putting him to sleep because i was worried he suffered, but they told me if he's happy and talking and eating he can live till a ripe old age. It started about 4 years ago, it seemed like he was moulting but it never grew back again. He does'nt pluck, it falls out, something to do with his lungs??? Have no idea what they were talking about, but as long as he's happy like that he can stay like that! He is spoiled and comes out often.:04:

And thats his story!

Agree with ya there, If he's happy then why mess with him. He certainly looks happy enough and as I said he has a certain twinkle in his eye. :04: Don't think I would mess with him either.

Can tell you one thing though, i miss the pretty feathered bird. He sure was handsome as you can see in the first pic, i scanned that one in from a photo. He had the most beautiful colours, but atleast his personality adds up for his featherlessness!! That pic was taken in 2000, he started losing in 2002. Left it for a while, because he was "moulting", but then it just never came back.

He looks kinda rough in the one pic, but thats just him, he never looks tidy!!

Yeh, you can really fall inlove with that cute face and flashing when he's talking up a storm! He doesnt have a great vocabulary, he can say a few...." hmm.. good food", "Pikkie", "Pikkiewyn" (its like Penguin), "Ooh", "Meow meow", " Scratchy head", "Hello", "Huh", laughs at nothing or when im picking up his poo on the floor, he hangs off from my shoulder stares me right in the face and gives a good laugh!:p

Well its raining here with thunder so ill post later again.
Gotta run....Eek!:11:

He was on sunflower seed like all newcomers to birds i didnt know what they really needed. He does get sunflower, with pellets, peanuts, fruit, veggies and the seed cooking mixture that i got from my ekkie breeder. I had him on a few types of pellets and things the vet told me to get but it never changed!:(

I do want to go to the vet again next year and since im out of school i can pay for the operation or medicine they give. Hopefully i'll get to fix him up again to his old self, but doubt that, his been like this for four years now! Will keep you posted on everything he will be going through next year!

Ask any questions on him, and ideas of what this can be will be helpfull!
Thanx!:D
