Hello,
I am new to this forum, glad I found it.
I always loved birds, but recently I took it to a higher level by trying to mate my lovebirds, both of blue color.
They are about 2 years old and recently started to mate. Their first clutch was of 5 chicks, they all hatched. But on the 10th day, the hen stopped
feeding the tiny/younger ones, she barried them, and I found them dead.
I realized that maybe it was too hard for her to feed 5 chicks and that is why she abandonned the last two:31:
Recently, the parents started a new clutch with 4 eggs. They hatched as per schedule.
Everything was going well for the first few days...but I was checking on the chicks to make sure that the hen is feeding them.
One morning I saw that she (the hen) barried the tiniest chick. So I was on the alert....the following morning I found all 3 mutilated (their bodies were red as if she picked on them...
there were signs of a beak pocking on them).
Why do you think she pocked at them to death?:63:
