Aloha!

Hey guys, I'm 15 from Honolulu. I have three birds. 2 budgies: Esther, a "normal" male, and Arrow a dark green recessive pied female and 1 lovebird: Izzy, a female sea green mutation.

I had Arrow and Izzy for almost two years after I impulsively got them at the last PetLand on the island. I was going to tame them but after months of trying, and them already bonding I decided to let them be. I have to be honest, they were in a living hell the first year with a 15x11x18 cage, a few natural branches, boring toys, and a seed diet. Not to mention that I began to suffer from SAD, and a few personality disorders, they were left alone for my currently 6 y/o sister to take care of. When I began to take care of them again I upgraded them to a larger cage and new toys and perches. They then suffered from a respiratory illness. And now today, they seem much healthier and happier being fed pellets, fresh foods, a nice large mansion, multiple different size perches and toys, and hours of free flying in my room whenever they please.

After getting Izzy from the same place I decided to start right, and I have been. Right now, I'm trying to convert her to a nice pellet and fruit diet and trying to stop her fear of hands, and biting. As she is still in quarantine, she is in a 18x18x18 but plan to put her in a 32x19x37 once its over and her wings grow back from the horrible wing clipping she endured.

I'm doing all the things I should've done and trying to provide my birds a better more joyful life.

I hope to learn even more about them and some other species I'm dreaming about (conures, pionus', eclectus', pois)

Welcome! Would love to see a pic of your babies. One of my good friends and co-workers is from Hawaii. I forget what island though. We always make her bring back some coffee when she goes home.

I think I know which place they get it from, I feel like it's near dole plantation. I'm trying to remember the name! Ah it's driving me crazy now

Your birds sound wonderful. I'm so glad you are all doing well. I would also love to see photos of Esther, Arrow, and Izzy.

I want to say it's Kona. I'm not positive since we usually had on our evening shifts together. That was hands down the best shift lol. But I haven't been on shifts since the beginning of the year when I got my new job.

Btw, did you happen to name Arrow after the show?

My sister named her Arrow after the pattern on her tail lol. Her full name is Arrow Featherdean
