I adopted ziggy 4 years ago and he has had 3 surgeries for prolapse... he was prolapsed when I adopted him from a bird rescue, and has done very well with the last one in march... they also did ventplasty the last time... he is sooooo stubborn... the biggest problem I have had with him other than the prolapse is that he doesnt eat any fresh anything!!! the only thing he will eat other than pellets is cooked oatmeal and pizza crust (discovered accidentally when he helped himself to our dinner) He is very hormonal and will attempt the sexual behaviors frequently... and screams incessently!! if he is in his cage... he is a very unaggressive bird, never been nasty, never bit anybody on purpose (accidental nips while playing dont count) so I count my blessings... he is not possessive of me, my husband or son, and loves to go into public (on his leash of course!) when he is out of his cage you couldnt ask for a better bird, but sometimes I have to get things done around the house, and have to wear earplugs or turn the music up real loud! We love him dearly, but like a baby, he can be very trying....he is currently recieving lupron injections monthly, but their effectiveness is very nonconsistant..

Welcome, Susie-- and Ziggy! I'm sure Ziggy will get the best of care at Cornell; their veterinary medicine department is among the best anywhere. All the best to you both.
