Hi my name is Nic and I have just joined :)

I have three birds a Pink and Grey named link he is my little clown :09: I have a Major Mitchell cockatoo called Flame the best way to describe Flame is inquisitive he gets in to everything, and last but not least my Red Capped Parrot Lash who I think has multiple personalities :09:

I am hoping some one might be able to help me with Lash, I get attacked. One minute he is all gd squeaking away preening my hair the next I get dive bombed and once he did draw blood. I can hand feed him but he wont let anyone touch him, I am the only one he attacks my room mate is never harmed. I am at a loss for what to do  any advice would be greatly appreciated

Could you give us some more information about when he attacks you? You mentioned that you have a roommate that he never attacks -- does he only attack you when the roommate is in the room?

Like -- he'll be preening you and sweet, then the roommate come in and he bites you? Or is there any other common denominator you have noticed?

Also, would love to see pictures of your birds :)

Hi Nic,
well you could try depriving him of his favorite snack food for a few days then take Lash in another room alone and put him on a stand, then use the step up command several times, when he steps up give him a little of his favorite snack, do this only for like 15 minutes a day, then use another command like kisses, say kisses then kiss his head and then give him a little snack, over time he will associate you with his favorite food and you will be the apple of his eye. No guarantees but I think it will work, good luck and best wishes.

I hate to break it to you, but red-capped parrots are well known for being - antisocial. They're very nervous and flighty, so if anything scares him in the slightest, he'll bite.
Was he hand-raised, or was he an aviary bird?

Some good advice has already been given, give it a try and see how it goes :)

he is technically my room mates bird but some how I ended up taking care of him with my other birds while my roomie goes and plays cars :p

when he was bought he was supposably hand raised but I highly doubt it. I have never been able to touch him you get to close he flies off. When he is in a loving mood he will land on me but it has to be on his terms and as soon as you move to touch him he leaves. I has taken me 5/6 months to be able to hand feed him. I will get attacked when I am by my self just as much as when my roomie is around. I can be getting stuff out of the fridge and I get swooped but other days no problem.
