Hi everyone :) My name is Lauren, I am 31 with 2 kids - Cyrus (aged 7) and Serryn (aged 4); I live with my partner and also have a step-son Billy (aged 16). I am an animal management lecturer and have a degree in animal management myself.

I am based in Billingham (England). My main hobby is reptile keeping - I keep A LOT of geckos and snakes - mainly crested geckos, leaftail geckos and cat geckos and snake wise - ratsnakes and a Bredl's python.

I have kept parrots a long time ago, before the kids were born but only have experiences with a few species. I am looking to buy a single bird as a family bird as I miss having my birds and think that my kids would enjoy having one around too. I aim to be the main carer and have my kids only handling/interacting with it when they are supervised.

I am still undecided on the best species for us at the moment and have put my enquiries on parrot chatter section as to which types would be most suitable - it seems very debatable at the moment! I am sure I will decide soon and as soon as I do I will be on the lookout for a new baby :D

Hello Lauren and welcome!
I am glad you joined us and I look forward to hearing what kind of bird you decide on:)

Thank you :) I am undecided at the moment and just trying to get different keeper's views and opinions on which species is best suited for our needs :) I have made a post on the question and answer section on here :)
