Hello.

my name is Nicole, I'm in Ontario, Canada. As a kid, my parents had a few birds - a budgie and a cockatiel.

In 1999, I brought home a Dutch Blue Lovebird named Indigo. He was with me through a university diploma, five jobs, four homes, and two husbands. He passed away recently, at the age of 15.

I'm undecided about getting another bird - I'm not sure how anyone could possibly live up to Indigo - he was an amazing, amazing lovebird.

But the breeds that I'm looking at are the Quaker and the Green Cheek Conure. I wondered if people had any opinions about about one specifically over the other.

Thank you,
Nicole.

I'm sorry for your lost, Indigo was such a handsome little bird. it looks like he really enjoyed his 15 years with you!

When it doubt, let the right bird find their way to you. It'll be hard to not make the comparisons and realize that your future parrot may not be exactly like Indigo but there are those who come really close.

Both of those species seem like great choices. I'd have to specifically pick a Conure over a Quaker since they're banned here, but both have potential to be better than the other. Are you able to visit some breeders who raise both and can let you interact with them? That's one way: getting attached to one of the species and end up finding out they're perfect for you.

Hello and welcome, Nicole. I'm so sorry for your loss. Indigo was a gorgeous little lovie. I'm glad the two of you had fifteen years together, you must have a lot of happy memories.

I have two quakers and I think they are amazing, but I can't compare the two, I've never had a GCC.
