Whealtey - a Green Cheek Conure
Hello! As of this morning I am the proud owner of a green cheek conure by the name of Wheatley. My mother bought him for Christmas for me and he's my pride and joy. My mom suggested I join a parrot/conure forum since it's full of knowledgable parrot owners who can help me out since this is my first /real/ parrot. I've had paroletts before, but never a conure. So I'd be very appreciative for tips and ideas. I have a book all about conures, but I'll take all the tips I can get!

Thanks for the warm welcome! Wheatley is a joy to have. He's already well trained and he steps-up well, though he sometimes gives little nips. I'm going to be buying him a flight suit with a leash in the coming days so I can bring him places and won't have to clip his wings (since I think he'd be a lot happier being able to fly).

Hello and welcome AND Merry Christmas! I've had my yellow sided green cheek since May. I know (as I'm sure everyone here does as well) what you mean when you say he's your pride and joy.

This forum is amazing and full of knowledge! I recommend using the search function to search the forums for a lot of information you are looking for! My best advice is not to push the bonding process, things are new for him which is why he's nippy..how old is Wheatley? Congrats!!!

Thank you :) My mother told me the vet said he was 6 months old and he believes he is male. He's actually already getting better about the nipping. I just have to be slow and steady with him ^^

Welcome! What an awesome gift!!!! :D I would love to help you with any bird questions about the amazing little green monsters! :D Number one, they are the best little birds and keep you on your feet! :) Did I mention they are super adorable! They are also extremely smart! Lilo is starting to learn colors! So maybe in time your little baby can learn a few things ! :)
