Thank you for the warm welcome!
We have 20 year old Britta and 3 year old little miss Molly.
Molly is a new baby to our home. She was horribly malnutritioned. The vet said we are doing well with her and she should fully recover in 3 months give or take. She is off to a great start for only 2 weeks with us. (very sweet girl, affectionate!)

When I learn my way around the site, I'll certainly read more about everyone here. I look forward to questions and answers. Really grateful to discover Parrot Forums :)

Britta in her tree with a toy box I made from a soda bottle.

Molly all cleaned up. I don't think she had a bath in some time. She really brightened up.

I still don't know how to post photos here in our comments, nor do I know how to create an album yet. I'll keep trying.

Here is a video link to Britta. She has quite the personality. We love her so much :)

Photos of little Molly.

The first the day we brought her home and how she is doing this week.

She itched and scratched so much she barely slept. We feared something was really wrong. But, we raced her to the vet and her bloodwork returned without any diseases, so she can be around Britta. But the vet confirmed her malnourishment, (underweight, feathers and beak indicated lack of proper diet she needed)

Her wings and claws were clipped by the vet too, so she was ready to start her new life. If she had her way, I'd need to pet her 24/7. She falls asleep to massages. Such a sweetie! :green:

Shame, poor Molly! It is so sad to keep hearing how people mistreat these poor babies.[emoji22] I am so glad she is now with you where she can get proper care.

It was horrific. When we picked her up at the meeting place, I was devastated. She was so thin. The odor from her feathers was unbearable. The transport cage they provided had not been cleaned in a very long time. I asked the people how she liked baths (spray/shower/bowl) and they informed me she did not take baths. When inquiring her favorite foods, they said "just pellets". We couldn't get her home fast enough. I stayed up with her our first night together just to ease her into the new environment and try some vegetables, fruit and grains. She ate well, but acted afraid of being open on her new cage. She didn't sleep at all. She scratched constantly and the dander was unbelievable. It was all pieces of quills and tiny new feathers. She allowed me to pet and scratch but I wonder if it was to relieve her of her itching. Within a few days of close interaction, she was confident to sleep, even though interrupted often with scratching, her huge appetite made her sleepy too. She became accustomed to spray bottle bathing. We got her to the vet right away and a few days later, the bloodwork was good news that she didn't have any issues we couldn't correct. It took her days to play with toys. Even then, it was out of curiosity. She has taken to us quite nicely. So affectionate. I am so grateful we were able to get her and she has given us so much joy in such a short time. Thank you, for being glad for us and her. She is too sweet to endure deprivation. No pet should ever live in starvation and any lack of care. I'm still shocked over what she lived with. It makes me love her more.
