I took in a GCC that was in a very stressful situation and would appreciate some advise on how best to help the little guy. I have experience with Cockatiels, parakeets and Sun Conures. This GCC needs more than some TLC.
Avian vet not available this week, vacation....
So this little guy was in a very stressful situation, the other bird was aggressive towards the GCC. He was not being fed regularly and what he was fed was not nutritionally appropriate for the GCC. He is missing a good bit of his feather around his head, shoulders and neck. He does not have parasites and is not scratching.
Upon arrival in my home I have him in his own clean, sanitary and correct sized cage, provide correct seed mixture, selection of appropriately sized fresh fruit, clean water and bath water. He has settled down nicely and is quite friendly and hand tame. He thrives on being with me, and spend a great deal of time with him. He gives kisses, clucks and makes soft noises when he is with me. He will allow me to caress him, and his beak. He obviously enjoys it as it makes soft cooing noises.
I would like to know if anyone has any suggestions on any additional supplements or home mixtures I can offer this little guy to help him recoup from the situation he was in and improve his health.
Thanks!
