I recently got my first pair of cockatiels and just the other day I noticed that one was on top of the other moving their tail back and forward, does this mean they are mating already? I find it a bit too soon since I just got these birds two weeks ago, but I do know they are at least two years old so does that mean they are just happy or do they want to reproduce already? I really don't know much about cockatiels and I don't want to get this wrong, please give me some advice so I can understand my birds a little better. Thanks everyone.

If your new 'tiels were in the same cage previously, there's a good chance they were just waiting for things to settle down, but if you witnessed their first opportunity to express themselves, you might want to offer your hen some calcium rich foods and keep a lookout during the next 7-10 days, when the first egg should show up, followed by a new one every day & a half.....energetic 'tiels will often clutch 4-7 eggs.....

Probably wouldn't hurt to do some fast reading on breeding cockatiels, but I'm pretty sure that as long as they're comfortable in their new surroundings, they'll take care of everything.....good luck.....

In answer to your question though, yes. sure sounds like your new feathered friends have found an interesting past time to engage in ! ! !
